Yes, that's how it was ...

What started out a few decades ago as a small village inn in the No man's land What started out as a holiday home is now a gem of peace and tranquillity. As early as the 1950s, our family recognised the potential of our beautiful Neunußberg, a true place of power, surrounded by greenery with a magnificent view over the Bavarian Forest. Our dear grandfather Michael Sterr, henceforth known as "Hauserwirt", together with our grandmother Angela, laid the foundation stone for today's business in 1958. Together they were true pioneers in the field of tourism. And so the initial "Gasthaus zur Burg" developed into the "Burggasthof Sterr" and then the "Burghotel Sterr". Since 2024, we have been operating under the name "Sterr - Hotel & Chalets" to reflect the entire range of services offered by our retreat.

A warm welcome. We look forward to seeing you!

Hideaway in the
Bavarian Forest

Anyone who has followed one or two of our adverts may have already come across this term. Hideaway...
Why a hideaway?

BRIEFLY EXPLAINED

We want to be a soothing retreat for you, dear guests. A place that does you good. A place where you feel safe and secure. Far away from everyday life. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the noise. Our hotel in the Bavarian Forest can offer you this setting. The peace and quiet in the middle of the countryside, the personal flair among a maximum of 90 guests. Looked after by nice people.

This is our very personal definition of a "hideaway in the Bavarian Forest". Enjoy it.

Nature &
Garden

We would like to give you as many of these as possible. Moments of relaxation and enjoyment. Of joy. Of pausing for a moment. Of well-being. Small sources of strength. Of course, the surrounding, wildly romantic forest landscape provides the perfect backdrop. But our garden also plays its part. Our garden is particularly close to our hearts. Because it frames our house and makes it the oasis we want it to be for you. Not just a bland lawn. A sea of flowers and grasses with many cosy retreats on different levels.

In between, unobtrusively embedded, you will also find the element of water with a swimming pond, outdoor pool and goldfish pond. Listen to the relaxing ripple and savour every moment.

Moments that
Remembrance remains.

A gem of peace, well-being and attention.

It all began in 1954, when Michael Sterr bought an inn for his son Michael and his wife Angela as a dowry for their wedding. At the time, this inn still had an adjoining farm and was expanded in the course of the 1960s to include its own butcher's shop, among other things.
